Our Marketing Society recently took to campus, asking learners and staff a variety of questions about our school to see just how much they know about GHS. From school traditions and history to fun facts and memorable moments, the activity sparked plenty of enthusiasm, laughter and school spirit.

With great admiration, we extend our best wishes to members of our school community taking on the legendary Comrades Marathon, the world’s oldest and largest ultramarathon. Covering approximately 89 km from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, this iconic race demands exceptional endurance, determination and heart.

We are especially proud to support Mr Thobiyisi Mchunu, Vice Chairperson of the Governing Body, running his 8th Comrades Marathon; Mrs Giovanna Cocciante, English Educator, taking on her 13th; and Mr Johannes Zuma, Groundsman, completing his 23rd. Each represents remarkable dedication, resilience and commitment.

GHS is also proud to be partnering with Rise Against Hunger Africa on race day, with members of our school community supporting on the day at stations along the route and cheering on runners.

Our Choir and String Ensemble delivered beautiful performances alongside the St Charles College Orchestra, High School Choir and Chamber Choir, showcasing the incredible talent and shared love for music between the two schools.

The evening concluded with a powerful combined choir performance of ‘Kwangena Thina Bo’, celebrating unity, partnership and the power of music to bring people together.

The GHS Envirocare club held a highly successful c The GHS Envirocare club held a highly successful civvies day fundraiser to coincide with the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, the world’s most celebrated natural historian, broadcaster and voice for the planet. For decades, his legendary documentaries have inspired generations to love and protect the natural world, making his centenary the perfect occasion to stand against rhino poaching and support animal welfare.

We are proud to announce that GHS raised a grand total of R8,543.00. The proceeds have been shared between our local SPCA and WWF South Africa to adopt two rhinos.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this vital cause and for helping us honour a true global icon for conservation!
