Boarding FAQs

The BE is overseen by the Governing Body, and is not subsidised by the Department of Education. Fees need to be paid in advance before the start of every term.

GENERAL

We offer a homely environment, but follow strict rules and regulations for all our girls.  All meals are provided in the BE.

DORMS
  • Grade 8s have 4 shared dorms.
  • Grade 9s have interleading dorms.
  • Grade 10s and 11s have double rooms.
  • Grade 12s have a Matric Wing with single rooms.
MENTORSHIP

Each Grade 8 is allocated one Grade 12 mentor who will support and help her adjust to boarding life.

POSITIVE ORIENTATION

Rather than initiation, we have positive orientation into the GHS environment. Activities are designed to break the ice, and never to humiliate any learner.

PREP AND TECH

Grade 8s have set prep times in designated rooms. As they move up in grades, they are given more independence. Grade 8s have limited access to cellphones to focus on academics.

SECURITY

The school has 24-hour guards. No boarder is allowed to leave the BE without parental consent and a security exeat from a Housemother or Boarder Mistress.
