Our 2026 learner leaders recently took part in a l Our 2026 learner leaders recently took part in a leadership training session led by Mr Marwick. The theme, ‘leading with a servant’s heart,’ reminded them that true leadership is about serving others with humility and care. Learners also enjoyed activities that encouraged teamwork, cooperation and respect. 

The training was a valuable time of growth, reflection and learning, helping them to build the skills needed to lead and inspire others.
Mr Marwick has officially hit the four month mark Mr Marwick has officially hit the four month mark in his role so we thought what better time for a cheeky quiz. We tested his GHS knowledge and threw in a few surprise personal questions for good measure. Safe to say he nailed it. Quick on his feet and sharp as ever, we’re well impressed.

Congratulations to Samiksha Maharaj and Yashmika M Congratulations to Samiksha Maharaj and Yashmika Maharaj on their excellent performance at the Block Style Karate Championship held in Durban this past weekend. Yashmika won Gold in Kumite and Silver in Kata. Samiksha achieved a double victory, winning Gold in both Kumite and Kata

Well done, girls! Your commitment, skill and perseverance continue to make us proud.
A massive round of applause for our remarkable Old A massive round of applause for our remarkable Old Girl, Dr Nonjabulo Ndaba (Class of 2009). She has made history as the youngest PhD graduate and the first Black South African woman to be awarded a doctorate in the Discipline of Occupational Therapy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

This is an outstanding achievement and one that fills the entire #GreenMachine community with immense pride. Dr Ndaba, you are a trailblazer and an inspiration to generations to come. In the article, she fondly reflects on how GHS planted the seed that led her to consider Occupational Therapy as a unique and meaningful career path.

Meron Fanta, Iysti Sewram and Malebo Molete recent Meron Fanta, Iysti Sewram and Malebo Molete recently represented the school in the South African Mathematics Foundation Teams Competition, bringing great honour to GHS. A special mention goes to Iysti Sewram, who ranked in the top 50 in KwaZulu-Natal and whose team placed in the top 10 in South Africa.

Congratulations to them on their impressive achievement and commitment.
GHS was honoured to receive a donation of indigeno GHS was honoured to receive a donation of indigenous plants and a copy of The Natal Parks Board by Dr Hughes from WILDTRUST. These trees were grown through the Treepreneur Project, an initiative that empowers community members especially young people and those who are unemployed to grow indigenous trees from seed. 

Thank you, WILDTRUST. We know that the book will be a valuable resource for our girls in the library, and we are equally grateful for the plants, which will contribute to the beautification of GHS.

At GHS we are all about the work, but we love the fun too. Some of our amazing admin staff recently took on the Co-worker TikTok Challenge... and let's just say we had laughs for days.
What would we be without a few delicious tradition What would we be without a few delicious traditions! Each year the Grade 11 Consumer Studies class showcases their creativity and skill through the much anticipated Novelty Cake and  project.

This year’s cakes were not only scrumptious but also beautifully and meticulously crafted with every detail thoughtfully designed and executed. From intricate decorations to imaginative themes the talent on display was truly impressive.

Well done girls, your hard work and passion shine through in every bite!

This is an internationally recognised competition and they won first place in their group category. Well done girls!
We are proud to announce that Makayla Pillay repre We are proud to announce that Makayla Pillay represented Karate KwaZulu-Natal at the National Style Block Karate Championships, held in Durban this past Saturday.

Makayla delivered an exceptional performance, earning a Gold Medal in Kumite in the 14–15 age category.

Throwback to our exciting Inter-house Games, where staff and learners faced off on the basketball courts and soccer fields, cheered on by full supporters. The day was filled with smiles, school spirit and left everyone with wonderful memories.
The Grade 8 History learners recently enjoyed a to The Grade 8 History learners recently enjoyed a tour of our school’s Boarding Establishment, once the home of the Davis family, pioneers of Pietermaritzburg.

 They were intrigued by the stained-glass windows, the ornate pressed-metal ceilings, and the iconic red stairs, while listening to stories of its history. Today, this historic building is a special part of our school, providing a warm and supportive home for boarders from near and far.
